Hi, we are Glean—a 100% vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand dedicated to simplifying skincare while honoring African beauty traditions. We believe nature holds everything needed to make your skin glow. Our products are powered by Qasil, a versatile and nutrient-rich cleansing powder that has been cherished by women across Africa for generations. Alongside Qasil, we carefully blend other potent African ingredients to bring you skincare rooted in ancient rituals and cultural heritage. A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

As a young girl, I was captivated by my mother’s beauty rituals—her skincare routines, hair care, and love for fragrances. She’s the reason I fell in love with beauty and why Qasil holds a special place in my heart.

Growing up in a Somali household, Qasil was a staple. The first time I tried it, I was amazed by how soft and glowing it made my skin, and I’ve never looked back.

Glean is my tribute to these roots. Through my visits back home, I became even more connected to the ancient rituals that have nourished African women for generations.

OUR INGREDIENTS

OUR QASIL IS GROWN, PRODUCED, AND ETHICALLY SOURCED IN HARGEISA, SOMALILAND.

HOW IT’S HARVESTED

Using leaves from the Gob tree, farmers take the leaves and allow them to dry in nice, large piles. After about 2 days of drying, the leaves are gently shaken off the branches and then ground into a fine powder that gets filtered and refined into our wonderful product.

SUSTAINABILITY

The Qasil plant grows new leaves every month, and we never overharvest, reducing exploitation and harmful harvesting practices.

LOCAL IMPACT

The communities of Somaliland that produce Qasil plants and create Qasil powder use leftover branches and materials from the harvest to build other mainstays for the community. The production benefits the communities as well, which is why we only source in Somaliland.
